For many creatives, finding a flexible and affordable workspace is a key part of building their enterprise. Within Baltic Creative sits Basecamp, a flexible co-working space where creatives can hire a desk and become part of a creative community.
We interviewed Basecamp founder Ray Haigh to find out more.
How Basecamp Started
Basecamp came about from research Ray did a number of years ago when studying for his master’s degree in social entrepreneurship at Liverpool John Moores University.
Ray said he was “exploring how we can better support entrepreneurs in Liverpool by creating a space which was affordable and flexible for them to base their business.”
And that is exactly what Basecamp became, affordable and flexible shared office space for creative entrepreneurs to work from. Ray said:
“Basecamp exists to give people a supportive environment where they can thrive.”
What is it like to work at Basecamp?
Basecamp has everything you need to work at your best – Dedicated desks, Hot desks. super-fast internet, access to meeting rooms, and free tea and coffee.
Ray told us “the real benefit to our members at Basecamp is the community. When you get like-minded people working side by side, they often share skills, knowledge, contacts, and develop good friendships. Actually, many of our members tell us that they’re far more productive working here at Basecamp than they are working at home or from a cafe. You might be working on your own business here, but you’re never working alone, and you never know who you’ll bump into and meet while you’re making the coffee.”
Being at Baltic Creative
We asked Ray why Basecamp decided to set up at Baltic Creative. He told us:
“Being based at Baltic Creative gives our members access to an even wider network. They get access to training and workshops, opportunities to collaborate with other businesses, and there’s even social events where people can meet over a beer or a coffee.”
