Northern Lights ends the summer on a high by welcoming three new creative businesses. A pottery studio, a florist, and a design agency are all making their way into the heart of the Baltic Triangle, joining this vibrant hub.

Northern Lights continues to be a beacon for artistic expression and collaboration; and these newcomers add to our ever-evolving community in the Baltic Triangle. Let’s take a closer look at Bisque-it, Esther Thorn, and Lyon & Lyon, as we welcome these three unique businesses into the Northern Lights community.

Bisque-it

Bisque-it is a pottery painting studio where you can explore your creativity in a relaxed and comfortable environment. They provide the tools and guidance you need to experience the benefits of creating something unique and individual to you.

Their studios in Northern Lights and Oxton are suitable for all ages, and open for bookings, drop-ins, workshops and events. Whether you’re visiting on your own or with family and friends, you’ll be welcomed with open arms! The team glaze and kiln-fire the pots you design to make them totally useable.

On the website the team had this to say about their new Northern Lights home:

“Our pottery painting studio is amongst a collection of Artists in the Northern Lights adjacent to the Baltic Market. Offering a painting experience in a hub of creativity. Immerse yourself in the daytime buzz of activity or create your vibe in our private group space, everyone is welcome!”

The Bisque-it studio is open on Mondays, Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 6pm. Book online via their website.

Esther Thorn

Esther Thorn is an independent female-owned floral studio, founded by Naomi Samuels.

Naomi started the business having always had a passion and admiration for florals. Creative side projects took a backseat to her 10-year career in banking, until she decided to share her creativity with the world.

Naomi’s passion for flowers first took the form of botanical drawings, with aspirations to one day create beauty from the real thing. She studied sustainable floristry techniques at Tallulah Rose Flower School and from there, Esther Thorn was born.

Esther Thorn uses seasonal British flowers and foliage wherever possible. Their work celebrates the sustainable practices of their carefully-sourced growers. Whether you want something different for your business or want a bouquet to bring the outdoors into your home, they can help you introduce natural beauty into your world.

Naomi’s dream is to encourage the beauty of nature across Liverpool with great care for the land it comes from. Her new studio at Northern Lights is the first step in creating a community of growers and clients who share the same values.

You can find out more about Esther Thorn and get in touch with Naomi via her website.

Lyon & Lyon

Lyon & Lyon is an award-winning design agency that loves to challenge convention. The work combines packaging, branding and motion to create innovative and engaging brand experiences. Their small team of designers have creativity and fun at the heart of everything they do, striving to make a positive impact in the world.

This year marks 10-years since the agency was founded by twins, Benny and Mat. Since then they’ve worked with top clients such as Urban Outfitters, LoveRaw, and Heaped. More recently they collaborated with Who Gives a Crap to develop ‘a range of concepts that showcased the brand’s bold and human approach to toilet paper.’ See the results here.

They also started a sister agency – planet-positive design studio, UNDO-UNDO-UNDO. Their ‘minifesto’ describes a mission to ensure every package, venture and brand they work with is good for the planet.

Lyon & Lyon takes pride in its 4-day work week. While initially based in Sheffield, the team now works remotely from various locations across the UK.

Designer Anton recently expanded the business to Liverpool, securing a desk at Northern Lights. After a stint working in Manchester, he felt the desire to work closer to home and Liverpool holds a special place in his heart. He aims to foster stronger connections within the local community and among fellow creatives. Find out more about the work of Lyon & Lyon on their website.

A warm welcome from Baltic Creative & Northern Lights to these three businesses! We can’t wait to see you all at the next event.
