George Barclay

George is Head of Property at Baltic Creative, helping make sure our buildings continue to be great places for creative businesses to grow. He works closely with tenants, partners and the wider team to create spaces that are well managed, sustainable and centred around the needs of our community.

He brings more than 10 years’ experience in commercial property, most recently as Head of Property, Facilities Management and Operations at Sciontec Developments. Throughout his career, George has been passionate about creating environments where businesses can thrive, combining strong property management with a collaborative approach to building communities. He has led sustainability and decarbonisation initiatives, managed diverse property portfolios and built lasting relationships across Liverpool’s creative, digital and tech sectors.

George is currently working towards becoming a qualified member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and enjoys finding practical ways to improve spaces for the people who use them every day.

George spent his younger years playing in bands and, while he’s swapped rehearsals for family life these days, he still has a strong connection to Liverpool’s music scene and was a regular at The Picket. He studied Comparative American Studies at the University of Liverpool, developing a particular interest in American literature and the poetry of Allen Ginsberg.

Away from work, life mostly revolves around keeping up with his two young children, where his love of literature has translated into bringing stories like ‘The Gruffalo’ to life.
