We caught up with our very own Alex Christey-Kelly, community and partnerships officer at Baltic Creative, to chat about Bloom. This much-anticipated event is happening on Wednesday 8th May and is set to be a full day of practical advice, ideas and good conversations.

With seven weeks to go, Alex took a break from coordinating the finer details of the day to share some insights with us. Read on to find out what she said about this unique business festival, designed for creative and digital businesses!

Alex Christey-Kelly, community and partnerships officer at Baltic Creative CIC.

What is Bloom?

A: Bloom is Baltic Creative’s take on a business festival to support the creative and digital sector. We’re focusing on everything from creative and digital innovation, business scale-up, to culture-led regeneration. It’s a day for inspiration, hearing from industry leaders, and making connections that matter.

When and where is Bloom happening?

A: It’s an all-day event on Wednesday 8th May, starting at 9 am. We’ve booked Camp & Furnace as our local venue for the majority of the day. Then we’ll move on to 92 Degrees in 49 Jamaica Street for a social from 4.30 pm!

Sounds great! What can everyone expect from the lineup at Bloom?

A: The day will be crammed with panel discussions, engaging Q&As, and talks from some of the North West’s most influential figures in culture. We’re finalising the details at the moment and can’t wait to share who we’ve booked!

How will Bloom tackle the challenges faced by the creative and digital sector?

A: Our panels and speakers are cherry-picked to shed light on the sector’s successes and hurdles, from scaling businesses to adapting to market changes. Bloom aims to give you the knowledge needed to excel in the digital age.

Who will benefit from attending Bloom?

A: Anyone from the creative and digital sector, from startups, to entrepreneurs eyeing growth, to established businesses. Those passionate about the future of the sector will find Bloom invaluable! It’s about taking your ideas and business to the next level, all the while focusing on sustainability and good business practices.

What about the one-on-one advice sessions with industry pros? What will that look like?

A: As you enter the venue, you’ll be met with a hub of innovation and support. We’ll have over twenty organisations ready to offer bespoke advice for businesses at our exhibition stands. You’ll be able to access wealth of knowledge across legal advice, finance, IP, business support, and much more. Whether you’re a startup or on the cusp of scaling up, you’ll find tailored guidance to navigate the complexities of funding, HR, health and wellbeing, and other areas. The stands will be open all day, so you can take your time to discover what each organisation has on offer. It’s a rare opportunity to connect with professionals who are as invested in your success as you are!

How does this event align with Baltic Creative’s values of fostering community and collaboration within the sector?

A: Our mission is to nurture a community where creativity and innovation thrive. Through events like Bloom, we want to create an environment to promote collaboration, open dialogue, and mutual support, driving the sector and our region to new heights.

How will environmental and social responsibility link with the themes for Bloom?

A: The conversations at Bloom will emphasise social responsibility. How can businesses, from micro to large-scale enterprises, thrive while maintaining a balance that supports both the planet and people? We’ll explore innovative, sustainable solutions, and examine AI’s role in the future of our sector. For scaling businesses, we’ll discuss how to balance growth with well-being, community support, and environmental care. The conversation around placemaking and regeneration will also focus on sustainable work environments that foster community and well-being. Bloom will showcase how businesses can succeed with ethical practices at their core, demonstrating that success, innovation, and sustainability are not mutually exclusive but complementary.

What sets Bloom apart from other business events?

A: We’ve carefully curated Bloom for the creative and digital sector in the North of England. It offers something to the businesses in our region that isn’t usually found on their doorstep! It’s more than networking and knowledge-sharing; it’s a celebration of innovation and a leap forward for our sector.

Will there be extra stuff on offer during the day?

A: We’re really excited about some of the additional events and content planned. We’re keeping it under wraps for now but people can expect a mix of entertainment, live demonstrations, tours, and fireside chats alongside the key panel events. While we’re saving some surprises for later, know that we’ve got an entire day’s worth of activities to keep everyone engaged, including plenty of food and drink! Who doesn’t love that?

Thanks Alex! What are the ticket prices for Bloom, and how can people buy them?
