We’re so excited to welcome Little Vintage Photography back to the Baltic Creative community.

Moving into the Creative Campus into one of The Sheds, Little Vintage Photography is a thriving space for film photography and darkroom education. With a range of workshops, experiences, and a membership-based darkroom, it’s the perfect spot for those looking to reconnect with the craft of analogue photography.

Behind the Lens: Rachel and Little Vintage Photography

Little Vintage Photography began in 2014, marking 2024 as its exciting 10-year anniversary. The inspiration behind its inception was deeply personal – a way to cope with the grief of losing a loved one, coupled with the uncertainty of a career shift after a job loss. Feeling the need to move away from the isolating digital world, getting back to physical, craft-based creative work became a lifeline. The darkroom offered a therapeutic retreat, providing a tangible, almost magical way to revive memories while creating something beautiful.

Rachel, the founder, first discovered her love for analogue photography in the 1980s. This admiration is thanks to her father, who taught her how to build a pinhole camera – a skill she now passes on through her workshops.

Since the inception of Little Vintage Photography, analogue photography has witnessed a renaissance, drawing together a global community of film enthusiasts. Rachel is also an ILFORD Darkroom Educator, having collaborated with the renowned B&W photography manufacturer on several projects, including a series of darkroom guides, and co-hosting the popular Sunny 16 Podcast.

Rachel previously had a space in Northern Lights and has moved over to the Creative Campus to a space more suited to her needs.

“Having one of the Shed Units was always my dream! I was originally in an open-plan co-working space in Northern Lights, but, having ended up with a physical disability during pregnancy, and knowing how much that created barriers for me, I really wanted to eventually have a space that was fully accessible.”
