The team at Baltic Creative are devastated to let our community know that, following a six month battle with cancer, our Board Director and friend Ben Clay passed away on Saturday 5th March 2022.
Ben leaves his wife Joy and two young children, Isaac and Tilly.
Baltic Creative CIC welcomed Ben to the board in October 2015. His talent and humour shone from the beginning. He directed us through the pandemic, and shaped our future growth.
Ben was instrumental in the delivery of Digital House in 2019 and, until very recently, was working on our new plans to deliver Liverpool’s first Tech Accelerator Hub in conjunction with a social housing provider. These projects leave a lasting legacy that will be felt in Liverpool, by people in our community for years to come.
Everyone who worked with Ben will know his talent and intellect. They will also know his humour, warmth and integrity. He was a truly incredible person who loved his family, his friends, his work and his football.
His passion for social justice, and doing the right thing, ensured he supported businesses, and delivered projects and programmes that helped people who needed support. He cared deeply about people and we know people cared deeply about him.

Ben would often share with us news about his family – Joy and the kids. His unwavering commitment to them was the very essence of Ben.
Our deepest condolences are with Joy, Isaac, Tilly, and Ben’s wider family and friends. All our thoughts and prayers are with them at this incredibly difficult time.
There is a GoFundMe page to help support Ben’s family and SCN8A UK & Ireland – the charity he set up in 2021. Please show your support, if you can.
