Tom looks after everything that helps Baltic Creative’s buildings work at their best. From maintenance and health and safety to long-term improvements and day-to-day operations, he makes sure our spaces stay safe, welcoming and ready for our community to thrive.
He brings more than 20 years’ experience in facilities management, property operations and the utilities sector, having worked across commercial offices, healthcare settings and large building portfolios including Capita, Silverbeck Rymer Solicitors, Eric Wright Facilities Management and Rathbones Investment Bank. Along the way he’s managed projects, contractors, compliance and budgets across UK wide Facilities portfolios, but he’s always been keen to understand how buildings work from the inside out.
That curiosity even led him to retrain as a dual fuel Smart Meter Engineer so he could gain first-hand experience of gas and electrical systems before moving into green energy projects, including large-scale installations of heat pumps, solar panels and external wall insulation.
Now at Baltic Creative, Tom brings together all of that technical knowledge with a genuine passion for creating spaces where creative businesses can grow. He loves solving problems, improving how things work and helping provide an environment where people and ideas can flourish.
Outside Baltic Creative
Tom is passionate about the arts and creative industries, and says hand on heart, to some extent he owes his life to them. Tom believes (and to quote Ethan Hawke) “Arts not a luxury. It’s actually sustenance”. He’s a guitarist, songwriter, poet and enthusiastic sketcher who enjoys everything from blues music to painting whenever he gets the chance.
When he’s not at work, he’s first and foremost a proud dad. He also spends plenty of time supporting his partner Nadeen’s work with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Scrapyard CIC, helping create opportunities for children and young people to access music. Being able to use his skills to support the creative industries that have given him so much is something he genuinely values.
